Mental illness can devastate the lives of people who experience it and the lives of their friends, family and carers. As well as the often-frightening experience of the symptoms themselves, mental illness can destroy self-esteem, confidence & motivation and in many cases leading to a downward spiral of negative feelings and a complete withdrawal from normal life. However, although most mental illnesses are not curable, they are treatable and in the vast majority of cases with the right support.
